It’s coming… Do you feel it? A brand new year. It is the time that we all feel that sense of newness, fresh starts and endless possibilities. I am definitely feeling it today. I am ready to embrace 2015 with wide eyes and an open heart (no pun intended). I am excited about where I am going with my family and our non-profit. Great things are coming, I am certain.
As I reflect on 2014, I feel completely blessed. This year our family was able to purchase a new home that is absolutely perfect for our family in a neighborhood that we love.
We also added the sweetest little baby girl to our family. On September 2, 2014, Lucy Elizabeth Claxton was born. She was 8 pounds and 8 ounces of pure joy and she has made our family of 6 feel complete. She is a good eater, the best sleeper and has folded into this Claxton clan with perfection. We couldn’t love her more. I hope to share her birth story with you all here in the next few months.
I am also incredibly thankful for the gift of having a wonderful group of doulas to come alongside and serve mamas all over Knoxville. They have such beautiful hearts and talents and I am honored to walk into this new year with them (along with a couple of additional doulas not in the photo) as we begin to see our non-profit vision unfold.
We have also been able to send our daughter to a great school this year for kindergarten that allows her to be in school for three days and home with us for two days. It has really been a gift and allows me to hold on to more of her little years which is something that could not be replaced. If you haven’t heard of Paideia Academy, you should check it out. They have THE best kindergarten teacher in Knoxville and a really great model of education (classical Christian). I am thankful for everyone there.
I am truly looking forward to next year and sharing with you all what is happening with Open Heart Doula. What are you thankful for from this year? We would love to hear from you.
